E-bike headlight Briq-XL by busch+müller:

Digital curve light – advance into a new dimension.

Anyone who experiences Briq-XL by busch+müller for the first time will question everything they have seen up until now. But let‘s start at the beginning.

In theory, the perfect bicycle headlight provides a road that is lit equally excellent at every point, and also features a perfectly level light/dark boundary. Briq-XL is the decisive leap in technology that comes as close to these ideal conditions as no other headlight before it. What makes that possible is the groundbreaking combination of a large area multi-facet reflector, an LED array and highly efficient electronics.

The total light output in Lux? 150 on paper… however!

The light experts at busch+müller know exactly how mere numbers can be deceptive. If the output of one headlight is narrowly focused like a laser pointer, a theoretical light yield of 100,000 Lux may be achieved. Certainly, an impressive number, but not something anybody would want to use to light the way while cycling.

More information is required to accurately describe the large area light of the Briq-XL. The illumination level reaches 150 Lux not only in some spots, but virtually everywhere. The total amount of light, up to 8,500 Lumen, creates a „carpet of light “, whose width, depth and uniformity of luminance open the door to a new dimension. Where there was once night, there is now day.

And the light/dark boundary? Crystal-clear as well as razor-sharp.

Always pointing the way: Digital curve light

The next enlightenment occurs when tipping the handlebar. The field of light transforms immediately. Depending on the intensity of the steering angle, digital curve light activates sequentially. The light horizon is virtually horizontal at all times.

Previously, every turn drastically curtailed the beam range on the inside of the curve. Briq-XL now automatically and unwaveringly shines into each curve. Visibly better on roads both straight and winding.

Consideration and safety of all traffic participants are vital. So as not to glare oncoming traffic by the raised light edge on the outside of the curve, Briq-XL automatically reduces its light output in this area during turning.

Even more perfect vision: One push of the Briq-XL‘s handlebar button activates high beam light. Also, three light apertures each on the left and right side of the headlight place an emphasis on design and reliably offer lateral visibility.

Also included is a specially developed, robust one-armed metal bracket for handlebar mounting. Offset by 180°, it also allows hanging assembly. For handlebar diameters 31.8 mm, adaptable for 25.4 mm. Oversized (up to 35 mm) available separately.

Another highlight of the new flagship: A mobile app configures the field of light and also controls all light functions of the Briq-XL. With three pre-programmed, field-tested modes: city, road and offroad. By accessing “My Mode“, individualists may adjust the low/high beam gradient, daytime running light, light width and depth according to their own wishes – also, just one push of the button is sufficient to considerately react to approaching pedestrians.

Blucon, the ergonomic bluetooth control unit provides full control over all of these functions. It features two operational touchpads that can be programmed with up to four functions. The button is mounted either by using a flexible tension band or, more permanently, using an aluminium clamp. On this clamp, the button can be swivel adjusted.

Two connection cable possibilities are included – one with open ends, another with the specific Bosch connector – these facilitate uncomplicated electrical connection. Pre-mounted to the Briq-XL is a headlight cable with a compact universal connector.
